A quick and flavorful dish featuring tender slices of beef and crisp broccoli florets stir-fried in a savory sauce. Perfect for a weeknight dinner or a meal prep option!
Ingredients
- 1 lb (450g) beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced
- 2 cups broccoli florets
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1/2 cup beef broth
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- Cooked rice or noodles for serving
Instructions
- Prep the Beef:
- In a bowl, mix the soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, and cornstarch. Add the beef slices and toss to coat. Let it marinate for 15-20 minutes.
- Cook the Broccoli:
- Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the broccoli florets and stir-fry for about 3-4 minutes, until they are bright green and just tender. Remove the broccoli from the pan and set aside.
- Cook the Beef:
- In the same skillet, add the remaining 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil. Add the minced garlic and ginger, and stir-fry for about 30 seconds, until fragrant.
- Add the marinated beef slices and cook for 3-4 minutes, or until the beef is browned and cooked through.
- Combine Ingredients:
- Return the cooked broccoli to the skillet with the beef. Stir to combine.
- In a small bowl, mix the beef broth with a bit more cornstarch (if needed to thicken). Pour this mixture over the beef and broccoli, and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened and everything is well-coated.
- Finish and Serve:
- Drizzle with sesame oil and sprinkle with red pepper flakes if desired.
- Serve the stir fry over cooked rice or noodles.
