A quick and flavorful dish featuring tender slices of beef and crisp broccoli florets stir-fried in a savory sauce. Perfect for a weeknight dinner or a meal prep option!

Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450g) beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Cooked rice or noodles for serving

Instructions

  1. Prep the Beef:
  • In a bowl, mix the soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, and cornstarch. Add the beef slices and toss to coat. Let it marinate for 15-20 minutes.
  1. Cook the Broccoli:
  • Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the broccoli florets and stir-fry for about 3-4 minutes, until they are bright green and just tender. Remove the broccoli from the pan and set aside.
  1. Cook the Beef:
  • In the same skillet, add the remaining 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil. Add the minced garlic and ginger, and stir-fry for about 30 seconds, until fragrant.
  • Add the marinated beef slices and cook for 3-4 minutes, or until the beef is browned and cooked through.
  1. Combine Ingredients:
  • Return the cooked broccoli to the skillet with the beef. Stir to combine.
  • In a small bowl, mix the beef broth with a bit more cornstarch (if needed to thicken). Pour this mixture over the beef and broccoli, and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened and everything is well-coated.
  1. Finish and Serve:
  • Drizzle with sesame oil and sprinkle with red pepper flakes if desired.
  • Serve the stir fry over cooked rice or noodles.
